Jeg looks to continue winning ways

Jeg and his yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier will return to the rain postponed Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals sitting in the top spot with a time of 6.760 at 203.03 mph. There are two remaining scheduled qualifying sessions that will take place on Saturday.

The 33-year old Delaware, Ohio resident is once again making a late season charge in the NHRA POWERade championship. The top spot is out of reach, but the No. 2 position is fair game. Jeg is now within 150 points or 7.5 rounds from taking over the spot from Kurt Johnson.

"We look to be even stronger when we return to Maple Grove this weekend," said Jeg. "Since the event was postponed due to rain we have a win, a runner up and a No. 1 qualifying position under our belt at the last two events."

The stage should be set for another record breaking weekend at Maple Grove Raceway this year. In 2000 this event was postponed due to the tragic events surrounding 9/11. Jeg left the race that year with the national record in Pro Stock at 6.750, which stood for over 18-months. The two-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion expects see the current national record fall again.

"Maple Grove Raceway is already quick and it will be even quicker when we return," explained Jeg. "The fans are in store for a special treat."
