Q Racing Driver Readies for Sunday at Maple Grove

MOHNTON, Pa. (September 17, 2005) -- Tony Pedregon and his Q Racing Nitro Funny Car grabbed the fifth qualifying position for tomorrow's NHRA Event at Maple Grove Raceway.

Pedregon held to last night's pass of 4.801 seconds at 318.84 mph. With a total of three solid runs during qualifying at Reading (pa.), Dickie Venables, crew chief, talks about this weekend's accomplishments.

"We had two good days with three full runs down the track," Venables said. "We're excited about our qualifying position and we have a competitive car. I am expecting the Q car to have a long day tomorrow."

Pedregon explained the expectations he has for Q Racing and his determination to bring his team to victory.

"We're glad we qualified in the top half of the field," Pedregon said. "These are some of the best runs we have made during qualifying so far, even with conditions that were not all that favorable. Our first goal was to qualify well, now my sights are on wrapping it up tomorrow.

"I feel that until we execute on Sunday, we'll keep doing everything we need to do to get there," Pedregon added. "We have as good of a car as we've had all year with the best parts and the best oil available. Q Racing is behind us and we believe we're very capable of winning. Our goal is not to go one or two rounds but to win a race. I'll not be satisfied with anything less."
