Mohnton, Pa.: Reigning Winston Top Fuel Champion, Tony Schumacher continued his quest for a second straight title by claiming the No. 1 qualifying position at the Keystone Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway.

Schumacher's impressive Friday night blast of 4.535 seconds helped him claim his second pole of the season and his career.

In the first session of the day, Schumacher spun the tires and managed a 5.535 e.t. at 166.05 mph. "That's our mistake for the weekend," said Schumacher, "I would rather that happen today than in eliminations."

In the final run before eliminations, Schumacher's Dan Olson-tuned dragster ran other low e.t. of the session with a 4.589 at 303.43 mph. "Dan's (Olson) has his game face on this weekend," said Schumacher, "we are eager to get into eliminations."

"We gained one point on Scelzi today," said Schumacher referring to his No. 1 spot and Scelzi's No. 2, "when we get to this part of the season, each one counts even more."

Final eliminations are scheduled to begin at 11am. ESPN2 will televise the Keystone Nationals.
