READING, Pa. (Sept. 15) - Miller Lite/Snake Racing driver Larry Dixon raced Scott Weis in the first round of eliminations defeating him with a run of 4.651 seconds, 317.79 mph to Weis' run of 4.702 seconds, 301.47 mph in the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway before steady rains befell the surrounding Pennsylvania countryside causing a delay of racing activities until Monday morning. When racing resumes at 10:30 a.m., NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points leader, Dixon will face Doug Kalitta in the quarterfinal round of eliminations.

"It was a nice lap," said Dixon. "The guys were looking at turning around 4.62 (seconds) and we've got the Miller Lite car into the second round. We've got a tough match up with Kalitta. They will have lane choice, but right now I don't think lane choice matters."

Crew chief Dick LaHaie remains optimistic and appreciative based on his team's performance in spite of Kalitta's quicker time in eliminations.

"We weren't trying to set the world on fire on that run," said LaHaie "We're thankful for the win and that's all that matters." ESPN2 will air final round coverage from 1:00 to 2:30 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
