The JEG'S Mail Order Racing Team will return to Reading, PA which is the site of the next stop on the NHRA tour. September 17-20th all eyes will be focused on the 14th Annual Pioneer Keystone Nationals. The yellow and black JEG'S colors will be represented in two competition classes. Jeg Coughlin, Jr. and Troy Coughlin will compete in Pro Stock. In addition, Jeg, Jr. will add Super Stock to his competition plate for the weekend.
"We are looking forward to the Keystones with great anticipation. We have added two additional team members in recent weeks, which will give us the added man power and overall strengthen the team to be as competitive as possible,: said Jeg Coughlin, Sr. Craig Hankinson and Eric Luzinski have joined the JEG'S Mail Order Racing stable. Craig was formally the crew chief for "The Dodge Boy's" and Eric was the crew chief for Tom Hammonds. Both of these individuals bring knowledge and vast experience to a team that is considered to be among the most knowledgeable group in Pro Stock.
Jeg, Jr. will have another very busy weekend. He will be behind the wheel in Pro Stock and Super Stock. Jeg commented, "I think that our team is on target. When I drive two cars at an event it forces me to focus more, because I have to. The difference in the Pro Stock and Super Stock tree presents a challenge that I thrive on. I look for big things to come out of the JEG'S camp this weekend." In addition to his demanding driving duties, Jeg will host Honey Brook, PA resident Matt Grosso as an honorary crew member. Matt entered National Dragster's Drawing and Photo Annual Contest with a tribute to Jeg, Jr's historic 1997 season. "I can think of no better way to show my appreciation then to give Matt a behind the scenes look at the sport that has been so good to me," said Jeg.
Troy is currently in the number fifteen position in the NHRA Winston Championship and is 108 points from the top ten. Troy said, "My season has been filled with ups and downs, no different then any other Pro Stock driver. My intention is to finish the year with a bang, wipe the slate clean and in my mind start my season at the Pioneer Keystones." The #8 JEG'S Mail Order Oldsmobile Cutlass has performed well in recent weeks. Troy experienced some additional bad luck when his car rolled backwards out of the beam as the tree was activated by NHRA Chief Starter Rick Stewart during the Friday night session at the US Nationals. The field was essentially set at the conclusion of that session. "everyone in Pro Stock has the same chance for fortune and misfortune, it's part of the class. That's what keeps this class so competitive and interesting," stated Troy.
