READING, Pa., Sept. 13 -- For the second time in as many races, inclement weather forced postponement of an NHRA National event. This time it was the Lucas Oil Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, and it will be completed Oct. 4-5.

Cruz Pedregon and his Advance Auto Parts Funny Car made the most of the wet weekend's only qualifying run, posting his quickest elapsed time of the season, 4.819 seconds at 313.73 mph. It put him No. 2 in the provisional standings behind his brother Tony's 4.803.

Rain on Friday delayed the one round of qualifying until past 9 p.m. It was midnight by the time it concluded, and rain again all day Saturday forced the decision to complete the event at a later date. Rain forced a one-week delay of the U.S. Nationals two weeks ago.

Pedregon and the team return to action Friday through Sunday at Memphis.
