Toyota drivers Worsham, Langdon Second in Opening Qualifying Runs At Pomona
POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2009) -- Toyota-sponsored drivers Del Worsham and Shawn Langdon each registered second-fastest qualifying runs in the opening qualifying sessions for the 50th Kragen O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Thursday. Worsham drove his Al-Anabi Racing Toyota Camry Solara Funny Car to a 4.062-second pass at 312.35 mph to place second in the first of four qualifying runs in Funny Car competition, while Langdon's 3.847-second pass at 309.98 mph earned him a provisional second-place in Top Fuel. The second-place showings earn each driver two bonus points. Both drivers are Southern California natives with Worsham based in Chino Hills, while Langdon grew up in nearby Mira Loma.
"This is what I dreamed of coming out here at my home track and running so well in front of my family, friends and our sponsors," said Langdon. "We couldn't have asked for much more than to run second in the first qualifying run of the year."
Worsham was equally pleased with the start of his 2010 campaign. "To come out in the first run of the season and go out and run 312 mph in a brand new Toyota Camry was a beautiful run. For everyone at Al-Anabi Racing, it's a heck of a start. We've got two extra points and we've barely got started."
NHRA Full Throttle Series qualifying continues on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (PST) and while conclude with a pair of qualifying runs on Saturday.
