WEATHER CLAIMS SECOND ROUND OF QUALIFYING

POMONA, Calif., February 6 - For the second straight day, inclement weather prevented U.S. Army Top Fuel pilot Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher from posting a qualifying run for the Kragen O'Reilly Winternationals here at Auto Club Raceway. Schumacher and his U.S. Army team are hopeful the skies will brighten on Saturday allowing for at least one qualifying trip in preparation for Sunday's season opener.

"Man, this is real frustrating not being able to get on the track," said the defending world champion. "All the guys are pumped up and ready to go, but I guess Mother Nature has other ideas."

The Chicago-area resident has used his rain-induced idle time wisely by continuing to bond with his new crew chief, Mike Green, as well as his new group of crew guys.

"It's important we're all working from the same page as soon as possible," added Schumacher. "We clearly have one common goal in mind and that's to contend for another world title."

Qualifying sessions on Saturday are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. PT.
