POMONA, CA., AUTOZONE WINTERNATIONALS TONY GILLIG PLEASED WITH FIRST NHRA PRO STOCK SHOWING!

FEBRUARY 8, 1999 - TONY GILLIG OF LAKE ZURICH, IL displayed his red and white 1997 Rick Jones Oldsmobile Cutlass for the first time at an NHRA National event. Gillig was very pleased with his teams performance in Pomona, CA. "We really wanted to qualify at our first event. But, we are extremely happy with our achievements in Pomona." Tony goes on to say, "We are currently using a loaner engine from Steve Schmidt. If this is any indication of what is to lie ahead with the new motor Steve is building for us, we will be very happy." Gillig's new Schmidt engine will be ready for the Arizona Nationals in Phoenix. "We can't wait to see the results. I am excited about the entire 1999 NHRA Winston tour and hope to be in the thick of things soon."

Gillig put three good runs together at Pomona, a 7.02, 7.00 and a 6.99 to put Gillig in the #18 spot. The independent team from Illinois plans to attend all 23 events and is anxiously awaiting the Phoenix race.
