POMONA, Calif. (Feb.4) - Bart Price and Greg Stanfield, drivers of the DBP Enterprises Chevrolet S-10's, came to the 41st Annual AutoZone WinterNationals in Pomona, Calf. with the goal of qualifying both truck and going a couple rounds. They not only met but also exceeded those goals today.

Today, team driver Greg Stanfield made his third final round appearance in as many races. Although, he would have liked his march through eliminations to have ended in the winner's circle, Stanfield and team owner Price were very happy with the outcome of the season's first event.

Stanfield met Randy Daniels in the final round. On his way to the final Stanfield would defeat Mark Whisnant, Bob Panella, and Scott Perin.

As the tree came down, Stanfield took the advantage on the starting line with his .441 of a second light, to Daniels .458 light. At about half-track Stanfield got out of shape. That was the break Daniels to catch him on the top end, and win the race by a .008 of a second margin for victory. Daniels ran a 7.527 / 179.97 mph to Stanfield's 7.552 / 179.49 mph.

"Hey I'm not unhappy," said Stanfield. "I would have liked to win. I think if I hadn't gotten out of shape, I could have taken him. We'll get him next time.

"Our goal coming here was to qualify both truck. We did that, so going to the final was a bonus. We would have liked to get Bart qualified a little higher, but we are going to work on that. Both trucks ran well, and I drove pretty well, so I would call it a good weekend.

"Between now and when we leave for Gainesville, we are going to do a lot of testing and spend a lot of time on the dyno. Even though we did well here, we have to try to keep ahead of the rest field. Then maybe next time we can stand in the winner's circle on Sunday in Gainesville.

The next race for the Pro Stock Trucks will be the 32nd Annual Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. March 15-18.
