Pomona, Calif. (Nov. 10) - Today in qualifying at the 15th Annual Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals Larry Seay, driver of the Valvoline / Larry Seay Chevrolet Chevy S-10, piloted his Pro Stock Truck to the top of the qualifying order. In the second session of qualifying Seay posted at 7.530 / 177.98 mph to take the Number 1 position.

"We made a good run out there today," said Seay. "It was a good, straight, clean run, and the Panella horsepower behind didn't hurt either. It got a little loose on the top end, but I don't think that effected my ET any. My Dad (Larry Seay Sr.) made a good call on the clutch. It was a good run, but the thing is, I think we can get more out of it.

"The morning session tomorrow, I think, is going to be the good session. That is when we could possibly step up. I think, as long it's not too cold, I think we could get a couple more hundredths out of this Valvoline Chevrolet.

Coming into this last race of the season, Seay holds in the 11th position in the Winston Pro Stock Truck points standings. A high qualifying position and a final round appearance at this race will net Seay a spot in the coveted Winston top ten.

"Coming into this race we wanted to try and get into the top ten in the points standings. We figured that we would have to qualify in the top three or four and win the race. Which really isn't too far out of reach.

"Right now, I feel like was have all the pieces to the puzzle. We have good Panella horsepower, good equipment and a good crew behind me. We just need a little luck to put all the pieces together. If we can get some luck to come our way this weekend, I think we could very possible put this Chevrolet in the winner's circle on Sunday."

Qualifying continues at the 15th Annual Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. on Saturday Nov. 11. Eliminations will take place on Sunday Nov. 12 at 11:00 AM PST.
