FULLER RACES TO QUICKEST RUN OF CAREER, QUALIFIES SECOND AT WINTERNATIONALS

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2007) -- Rod Fuller continues to impress behind the wheel of his David Powers-owned Valvoline dragster. The three-time NHRA winner raced to the No. 2 qualifying position Saturday at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona with a career-best 4.481-second blast in the left lane at the historic drag strip.

In the quickest field in NHRA Top Fuel history, Fuller posted three qualifying laps in the 4.4-second range. On Saturday afternoon, the longtime sportsmen racer used a tune-up from veteran crew chief Rob Flynn to card the quickest run of his career, 4.481 at 327.27. It bettered his previous career-best of 4.493 seconds. On his final run of the weekend, Fuller powered to his third 4.4-second pass, 4.489 seconds at 329.75 mph to finish in the No. 2 qualifying position. It is the second time that he has qualified second in Top Fuel.

"With testing, we've run four 4.40s in our last five runs; that's pretty cool," Fuller said. "I went through the entire 2006 season without a 4.40. As a longtime bracket racer, it's like I'm back to my roots. I can stick 4.48 or 4.49 on the index and let it rip. I've got a car and a team that can win. I plan on being on my game and getting this Valvoline car in the winner's circle. I feel very confident with our consistency."

Fuller will face off against No. 15 qualifier Doug Herbert in the opening round of eliminations on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. (PT). Fuller has a 5-2 career mark versus the North Carolina driver.
