John Force on the significance of an eighth NHRA Winston Funny Car championship: "I say I want to win an eighth championship because I kinda set it against NASCAR, where (Richard) Petty and (Dale) Earnhardt have won seven," Force said. "I'd like to win eight, not for myself, but for the sport of NHRA. I'd like to move us on up that ladder as far as recognition goes. Just like when I won the Driver of the Year in 1996 -- that was good for the sport. People were really taking notice. I also want to do it for Castrol because they've been with me for 14 years. I want them to know that they just haven't bought a billboard, that they've bought a real person. And a person that can win and dominate."
John Force on life after an eighth NHRA Winston championship: "Retirement isn't even a consideration. There's a lot of things going on right now. I'm working on a TV show in the future. I want to open a restaurant in Yorba Linda and I've got my apparell store and museum. I even want to start my own agency that can help some of these guys get sponsorship. I mean, there's guys like the Andersons, Whit Bazemore and Al Hofmann who have worked hard and deserve sponsorship. There's 30th place Winston Cup cars that are getting sponsors and people don't even know who they are. Those sponsors can come over here and buy a whole car for what they're paying in other motorsports for a fender. Corporate America really needs to look here. I am going to focus more on the team in the future because with all of these other things I've got going I don't want to lose track of the primary mission, and that's racing. I still want to win more championships."
Ron Capps on his sudden emergence as an NHRA Funny Car star and fan-favorite: "I'm having fun but I haven't forgot that I am still a huge NHRA fan. I have bought tickets to get into these races and I've sat in the stands. I've stood in line to get an autograph from (John) Force and (Don) Prudhomme. I worked my way up as a crew member on several different cars and earned my place here. I feel like I've definitely paid my dues."
