Pomona, Calif. - - It was mixed results for Team Haas as the second qualifying session ended. Matt Rhoades, from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., dropped to the 18th position on the qualifying ladder, while Charlie Greco, from St. Davids, Penn., moved into the field in the 14th spot.

"Greco moved into the field and I feel that we still have enough left to make a major move with his truck tomorrow. We have a new motor in Rhoades truck and we are still trying to figure out what it wants. It ran a good speed, 179 mph, so we know the power's there. We'll have it figured out by tomorrow's session," said team owner Jerry Haas.

"We're pleased with the improvement we made today," said Greco, who recorded an elapsed time of 7.543 seconds at 179.09 mph, "but there's more there. We'll buckle down, do our homework and go after them tomorrow. We can make small changes that will help."

Greco's teammate Matt Rhoades, who ran a surprising initial run of 7.552 seconds yesterday, couldn't match that time today. "I can't get down over one run. We have two more (runs) tomorrow and I'm confident that we can make a move and jump back into the top 16, said Rhoades.

Two rounds of qualifying for the AutoZone Winternationals remain, both on Saturday. The first is scheduled for 12:00 noon (PST), with the final chance at 2:30 p.m.
