Jeg And Troy Coughlin Are On Opposite Sides Of The Ladder, Will They Meet In The Final Like Last Year?
There was not as much cloud cover today as there was yesterday. The air temperature is down a little, but the humidity is up in the air.
The Pro Stock brother duo of Jeg and Troy Coughlin continue to show the drivers in the Pro Stock class that they are ready to hit the quarter mile battle field on raceday. The yellow and black JEG'S Olds Cutlass' will begin raceday from the opposite sides of the ladder. The two would like nothing more than to race eachother in the final round tomorrow like they did a year ago when they had their first ever professional all-JEG'S final.
Jeg Coughlin and his yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass started the third qualifying session sitting in the No. 2 position. Coughlin said, "We made a very nice run during the third session. The took off like a bullet and never left the center of the groove, that speaks highly of our team and teamwork."
Jeg was the quickest and fastest Pro Stock car of the third qualifying session. Coughlin added, "Like I have said before, fine tuning these cars for raceday is what qualifying is all about. I think that our team has a great handle on the track and the conditions at hand."
Troy was the fourth quickest of the third session and remained in the No. 4 spot in his JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass. Coughlin noted, "We might have gotten a little aggressive on the setup of my car. The good thing is that it is nice to know where that fine line is so it doesn't get crossed."
The JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass' continued to show the Pro Stock drivers and teams that they are ready for battle on raceday. Jeg was the quickest of the final session and Troy was the third quickest.
Jeg commented, "The car has responded well all weekend and we are looking forward to raceday with great anticipation. My hat goes off to all of the guys on the team, they have done a great job making both of the JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass' run well."
Troy added, "Having a true two car team has proved to be a benefit and the efforts so far this weekend are a great example of teamwork."
Jeg Coughlin will start Sunday from the No. 2 spot and will have lane choice when he faces Pro Stock "rookie" John Fairleigh. Troy Coughlin and his yellow and black Olds Cutlass will line up next to Richie Stevens, Troy has lane choice.
Coughlin Brothers On Final Round Possibilities:
Jeg noted, "If we meet in the final round like we did last year it's because of teamwork. I would like nothing more than to start off the 2000 NHRA season with an all-JEG'S Mail Order final."
Troy added, "We have run well all weekend as a team. Both cars made four very competitive runs in each car through qualifying and that shows that we are on as a team, that's a great way to start the 2000 NHRA season."
