Scott Kalitta and the DHL team hope to deliver overdue win in Pomona Finals

POMONA, Calif., (Oct. 31, 2007) -- This weekend, Nov. 1-4, at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, this season's final event of the 2007 POWERade Drag Racing Series at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, Calif., Scott Kalitta, driver of the bright yellow and red-striped DHL Toyota Solara Nitro Funny Car, is hoping that his fuel flopper's recent stronger performances will finally culminate with a season-ending trip to the winner's circle.

"It's been a tough year, no doubt about it," Kalitta, a 45-year old resident of Palmetto, Fla., said. "What I'm encouraged about though is that our DHL Funny Car is continuing to make better runs and, just as important, making those runs on a more and more consistent basis. Racing in Pomona is always a thrill. It's a race every driver wants to win. Hopefully we'll get our race car to continue its recent improvements and get a win of our own this time."
