POMONA, CA. (Nov. 10) -- The consistency of the Lucas Oil Top Fuel team, driven by 22-year old Morgan Lucas, continued on Friday at the 42nd annual NHRA Auto Club Finals at Pomona Raceway, with an near equal time of 4.579 seconds at a speed of 312.86 mph, which now places him in the No. 11 position.

With some difficulties on his run, Lucas roared down the track up until around 1,000 feet when the engine started experiencing problems.

"Now it's our goal to get in the top half of the field," said Lucas. "It's really close numbers and my crew chiefs are doing an excellent job of getting the car down the racetrack. On our last run, the engine was little lean in the middle and we're hoping to improve in our two sessions tomorrow. It's an easy fix."

After the first session from Thursday, Lucas recorded an elapsed time of 4.567 seconds at a speed of 324.75 mph giving him good footing in the 16-car field.

The two Top Fuel qualifying sessions are to be held at 12 p.m. (PST) and 3:30 p.m. at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
