Line Tops the Field on Thursday in Pomona

Summit Racing driver Jason Line got off to a tremendous start at the Auto Club NHRA Finals, posting the quickest time in the first day of qualifying to pace the Pro Stock field at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Running in the left-hand lane, Line tripped the finish line timers in 6.561-seconds with a top speed of 211.16 mph to edge his teammate Greg Anderson by two thousandths of a second. Although three attempts remain before the field is set for Sunday's final eliminations, he was nevertheless pleased with his opening performance.

"For our first run of the weekend at Pomona, that was pretty good," said Line. "The track is a little green, and with a couple adjustments, our Summit Pontiac could have run a '.54 or faster. But, all that matters is that we were better than everyone else and scored three bonus points, which could be very important in the final championship standings. I came here to win this race and finish as high as I can in the points, doing what I can to make this a very good weekend for our entire team.

"As the engine guy, I'm also pretty happy to see the three cars with KB Racing power with the three best top speeds. All in all, it was a good day, and we just need to keep it going for the rest of the weekend."
