Either Scott, Herring or Dusek Will Soon Own Snap-on Dragster

POMONA, Calif., Nov. 3, 2003 - Greg Scott, John Herring and Emil Dusek are the three finalists awaiting the culmination of Doug Herbert's year-long "Win This Car" contest. The announcement comes Sunday, Nov. 9, at Pomona Raceway, site of the NHRA POWERade Auto Club Finals, when one of them takes possession of the Murf McKinney-built racecar.

The finalists were selected from thousands of entries.

Dusek, 54, is an insurance salesman in Katy, Texas, and a bracket racer. He drives a 1971 Chevelle in eighth-mile competition at a track in Sealy, Texas.

What would he do with the dragster if he's the winner?

"Well, I'd have them deliver the car to our house and I'd keep it for awhile . . . show it off to our friends and neighbors," he answered. "This is exciting."

Herring, 31, owns a construction company in Elizabeth City, N.C. He drives in truck pulls and is busy building and maintaining 514, 604 and 650-cubic-inch engines for pulling.

What would he do with the dragster if he's the winner?

"I have no clue," he said. "I'd probably sit in it and look at it for awhile.

Scott, 46, lives in El Cajon, Calif., and builds race engines for drag racing and drag boats. He also drives a Fuel Altered in Nostalgia eliminator class.

What would he do with the dragster if he's the winner?

"I really don't know," he said. "That's a good question."

One of them will have to make that decision. Herbert's crew will deliver the racecar to the winner's house.

The Snap-on dragster comes race-ready, just like Herbert's crew was towing it to the startling line for a run - minus the nitromethane fuel, of course. The complete dragster cost approximately $200,000 new.
