Anderson No. 2 at NHRA Auto Club Finals
POMONA, Calif. (November 11, 2006) -- Greg Anderson, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored Pontiac GTO, finished No. 2 (6.668/207.18) in Pro Stock qualifying at the season-ending NHRA Auto Club Finals this weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.).
With teammate Jason Line finishing No. 1, it was the seventh time this season that Anderson and Line have finished one-two on the final qualifying ladder.
"We are continuing to get this new Rick Jones-built Pontiac dialed-in," said Anderson, the three-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion, "and we are getting closer each time down the track. That 6.668-second pass in the last qualifying session was the best pass with this new Summit Pontiac. The guys are working extra hard and we're slowly getting the job done. I'm really pleased thus far."
Line and Anderson will finish one-two respectively in the final NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings, the fourth consecutive year that a KB Racing LLC Pontiac, sponsored by Summit Racing Equipment has won the championship.
Anderson has four wins on the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona quarter-mile, two at the season-opening event (2004 and 2006) and two at the finals (2003 and 2004). Anderson will go after another win during eliminations tomorrow. In the opening round, Anderson will look over and find Bob Panella, Jr. in the opposite lane. Panella qualified No. 15 with a run of 6.712 seconds at 206.23 seconds.
Anderson begins his quest for the Auto Club Finals Top Fuel title on Sunday with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. Time is local Pomona time (PT) and subject to change at anytime.
