HERBERT LOOKS TO WRAP UP SEASON WITH CAREER HIGH POINTS FINISH
POMONA, Calif. (October 31, 2007) Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Tools team will contest the last race of the 2007 NHRA POWERade season this weekend at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Herbert, a southern California native, always looks forward to racing in Pomona, but with the opportunity to make a career high points finish, this race could be the most special of all.
"Coming to this track is like coming home," said Herbert. "I always have lots of family and friends come out to cheer us on. Winning this race with everyone here and moving up to fifth in overall points for the year would be great."
Herbert marches into the last race of the season sixth in points, tied for the highest points total of his career, and would like nothing more than to take home a fifth place, career best finish. The easiest way to accomplish that goal would be to win the race.
"Despite some low spots, this has been a really great year for us," said Herbert. "We won in Reading, raced our way into the first phase of the Countdown, we have been to four finals and several semifinals.
"We might not be able to win the championship, but we can certainly move up to fifth in points, making this season the best points finish of my career. Everyone has worked really hard all season long, and a best ever finish would be great for all of us.
"Putting the Snap-onFranchise.com dragster in winner's circle and celebrating a career high finish in points sounds like a great way to wrap up the season."
