CRUZ PEDREGON NARROWLY MISSES FIELD IN TIGHT QUALIFYING IN POMONA

JINDIANAPOLIS (November 5, 2007) -- Cruz Pedregon and his Advance Auto Parts NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car team carriedlate-season momentum into the 43rd running of the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona. A quick Funny Car field and untimely dropped cylinders in qualifying kept him from making the 16-car Funny Car field. His best pass of the weekend was a 4.911 at 318.09 mph.

"That's what I like about drag racing- there are no provisionals, no second chances," said Pedregon "They give you four runs to make the show and the only the fastest cars make it in. We have a fast car, but it wouldn't cooperate this weekend. After spinning the tires in the first qualifying run, we later dropped cylinders which took away about 800-1000 horsepower. We'll just learn from this and move on to next season."

Pedregon's team, under the direction of crew chief, Rahn Tobler, is looking forward to an intense off season schedule to prepare for next season.

"Our last several races, we showed what we have to look forward to next year," said Pedregon. "We'll transition our current car to a back-up role and begin building a new car for next season. Our performance late this year shows we'll have a car that will compete for a championship next year.

"I'm happy for my brother, Tony. The championship means a lot to our team and the Pedregon brothers now have a championship we can call our own. Tony and I are fortunate to share such great sponsors like Q, along with Herzog, Great Stuff, Sioux City Truck, Snap-On and all the other valued supporters.
