ANTRON BROWN MISSES TUNE-UP THURSDAY AT POMONA

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2010) - Antron Brown drove his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster to the No. 18 qualifying position Thursday afternoon at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

Brown, who enters the final race on the 2010 NHRA schedule ranked fourth in the Countdown to 1 standings, was the next to last pair of cars to go down the track on Thursday. His bright blue Matco Tools car shook the cars and coasted to a pass of 8.482 seconds at 79.38 mph. That placed him 18th in the 16-car order after the first of four scheduled qualifying sessions at Pomona. Brown qualified fourth (3.813-seconds) at the Auto Club Finals last November. The last time Brown posted a three-second elapsed time on his first qualifying session was at the U.S. Nationals in September (3.808-seconds).

"We just missed it on that run," Brown said. "It shook the tires hard and now we have to come out and make a good run on Friday to get in the show. There are a lot of good Top Fuel cars here this weekend, so we have our work cut out."
