Did you know?... In the 41 previous NHRA Winternationals, the winners of the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock classes have never scored repeat victories together. In 1975 and 1976, Don Prudhomme won in Funny Car and Bob Glidden won on Pro Stock, but there was no repeat winner in Top Fuel.
GOODYEAR QUOTE: Perry Bell, Operations Manager, Drag Racing: "The D1430 addresses a number of issues. It provides a stable platform all the way down the track and is designed to better handle the increased stresses the drive tires are currently experiencing in the Top Fuel and Funny Car classes as the top speeds approach 335MPH. We've been very pleased with the way teams have adapted to this tire."
GOODYEAR NOTE: The 2002 K&N Filters Winternationals mark the first event in which Goodyear's D-1430 will be the mandatory drive tire for the Top Fuel and Funny Car classes, but it is hardly the first time the tire has been used. When Kenny Bernstein set the NHRA elapsed time record at Joliet, Ill in June of 2001, he did so on a pair of D-1430s.
