K&N Filter Winternationals postponed until next weekend.

POMONA, Calif. -- Last season rain and adverse weather conditions affected, to some degree, 17 of 23 national events on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Now the 2004 season has officially started out in much the same manner.

Persistent rain and the forecast for more to come, forced NHRA officials to postpone the K&N Filters Winternationals scheduled for this weekend and reschedule the event one week hence, February 27-29.

The postponement affected Henkelman & Baca Motorsports plans to entertain a large contingent from both the American Dairy Association and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon. The group was on-hand to evaluate the 3-A-Day of Dairy campaign, a pilot program for a national marketing promotion.

"Rainouts affect NHRA, the race teams and their families," said Baca, co-owner and driver of the American Racing/ 3-A- Day of Dairy/Dairy Farmers of Oregon dragster. "It also couldn't have come at a worst time for Henkelman and Baca Motorsports. We had a lot of people on-hand to evaluate a potential nationwide marketing program called 3-A-Day of Dairy.

"This program has the potential to bring a new marketing partner to Henkelman and Baca Motorsports and NHRA Drag Racing. I feel that all who were here were excited with what they saw, but I also feel had the group seen us perform under actual racing conditions they would have been all the more impressed. Hopefully, based on what they experienced today, we will still have the opportunity to continue to fly the banner of 3-A Day of Dairy for the remainder of the season."

The 3-A-Day of Dairy nutrition-based marketing and consumer education campaign is managed by The American Dairy Association/National Dairy Council, with the monetary support of the dairy industry and the professional support of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Dietetic Association and the National Medical Association.

When the race reconvenes this coming weekend, the schedule will be as follows: one qualifying session at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27, two qualifying sessions at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28 and final eliminations on Sunday, February 29.
