POMONA, Calif. - B&J Transmission distributor, and former Federal Mogul Funny Car Champion Pat Austin ran a great 5.680 at 252.52 mph to take the top qualifying spot of this weekend's AAA Auto Club Finals in Pomona, Calif.

In Federal Mogul Dragster, fellow distributor Mike Strasburg lead the way for the B&J dragsters with a 5.526 at 256.41 mph to put him sixth. Other B&J racers to look for are Mark Hentges (10th), John Shoemaker (12th) and Steve Federlin (13th).

Along with Austin's low qualifying blast, recently crowned Division 7 Champion John Weaver ran a 5.692 at 251.86 mph to put him third, followed closely by recent Phoenix winner Bucky Austin in the fourth spot with a 5.746 at 248.84 mph.

Eliminations for both classes will be ran a 2:30 p.m. today. Final eliminations will follow tomorrow.
