JEG'S Pro Stock Brothers Look To Paint The CSK Nationals Yellow and Black

With one race under their belts the Coughlin brother's will turn their attention toward the CSK Nationals at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. The two-car JEG'S Mail Order Team is a threat to win at every race that they enter and they have shown that this year is no exception.

For the second straight year, Jeg Coughlin, Jr. enters the CSK Nationals as the Pro Stock leader in the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series Championship. The '98 NHRA "Rookie of the Year" has some great memories of Firebird International, which he is looking forward to making better when he returns to the CSK Nationals. Jeg finished #2 in the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series for the second year in a row ('98 & '99).

In '97 Jeg won the Federal Mogul Series event in Competition Eliminator. Coming into the race he knew that he had to win the race if he had any chance of winning the '97 Competition Eliminator Championship. Jeg won the race under extreme pressure, situations like that have made him one of the calmest drivers in the "factory hot rod" class.

Jeg commented, "The key to being successful in Pro Stock is to eliminate mistakes. When you make mistakes you have to learn from them or you will hold yourself back. We are a true two-car team and share data, information, and ideas between both of our JEG'S Mail Order Oldsmobile Cutlass', which helps our program learn quicker and make fewer mistakes."

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. and his #2 yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass would like nothing more than to leave Phoenix with a win and gain more valuable Winston Championship points. The young driver is currently in the No. 1 position in the 2000 NHRA points. Coughlin noted, "This season is far from over. We have the points lead right now, which gives our program the advantage. Our team will do what ever it takes to leave the CSK Nationals holding onto the No. 1 spot."

Last year, Troy Coughlin and his #24 JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass made it to his second straight final round appearance of the 1999 NHRA season. Troy finished the '99 NHRA season with a career high finish of sixth in the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series. Troy said, "I am really looking forward to coming back to Phoenix and starting right where we left off last year. Our team has more data, knowledge and experience than we had a year ago."

Coughlin continued, "We are a young team which has made enormous strides in a short period of time because we work as a team." Troy is currently No. 10 in the 2000 NHRA Winston Championship after the first race of the 23 race series. Troy added, "Our program was extremely strong at the season opener in Pomona and look for that trend to continue."

If the men in yellow and black have their way the two Coughlin brother's will meet in the final and paint Firebird International Raceway yellow and black.
