Jeg makes a big move in points.

The reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion had one thing on his mind when the sun came up - winning. The team made an engine change late Saturday evening that proved to be the right decision for race day.

In the opening round Jeg went head-to-head with Allen Johnson. Both drivers are known for the quick reaction times off of the starting line. Jeg rolled the yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier into the right lane.

Allen Johnson left the starting line first and turned on the red light, which gave the victory to Coughlin. Jeg never looked back and ran a 6.883 at 200.26 mph. His run was good enough to get lane choice in the second round.

"It is nice to get the first round win of the year under our belt," said Jeg.

In the second round Jeg faced off against Jim Yates. With no love loss between the two drivers Jeg pulled his yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier into the preferred left lane.

Yates launched from the line first by .023 seconds (.011 to .034). The two cars looked like they were welded together at the door handles. The JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier inched forward the closer the pair got to the finish line.

The win went to Coughlin by .0029 seconds at the stripe. Jeg ran a 6.873 at 199.73 mph.

"We got by that round," said Jeg. "We left a lot on the table and got by with it."

In the semifinal round Jeg went head-to-head against Greg Anderson. Lane choice went to Anderson and he took the left lane.

The starting line advantage went to Jeg by .007 seconds (.010 to .017). Both cars were side-by-side all the way down the track. The win light went to Anderson by .0129 at the finish line. Coughlin ran a 6.872 at 200.26 mph.

"We had a solid weekend and made a big jump forward in he NHRA POWERade points," stated Jeg. "Our program is obviously strong to have a semifinal round finish and a runner-up finish out of two cars."

The next race is the NHRA Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida March 13-16th. Jeg will enter the third race of the season sitting in the No. 6 position in the points.
