Cruz Pedregon Pomona Post-Race Quote: #"In Pomona, we never found our rhythm. We went first round not achieving quite the consistency we had in testing, and went in too aggressive against John Force. We tested well in pre-season over the last few weeks, but just came up short in making the right adjustments during qualifying. It was the first race of the year, and the track warmed up and caught a lot of teams by surprise, including our team. We knew that wasn't our best effort, and we are going to correct that and move on to Phoenix."
On the upcoming race in Phoenix and history at Firebird Int'l Raceway: #"I really enjoy the Phoenix race, and have had some success at that track (Firebird Int'l Raceway) in the past. I won there in '93 in the Funny Car, and was also runner up a few times. I actually got my first national event win there in '88 in an alcohol dragster. It's very important to leave that track with a good result so early in the season. We tested well at Phoenix in January so we feel like we know what the track will do. We have a great car, and finished strong at the end of last season, so we feel like we can jump right back out there and have a good race in Phoenix."
On strategy for upcoming Phoenix race:
"The key is consistency. When you have such a powerful car, it's easy to go over the edge. It's a race within ourselves. It's early in the season and we definitely want to get back in the top 10 in points (tied for 11th with Tony Bartone). We're confident and we know where we are with the car - we are just one run away from getting it all back together. Our goal is to a have a high percentage of completed passes down the track. I am optimistic and confident. In Phoenix, we definitely want to get our rhythm back, get in good, solid runs and gain confidence to carry us through the rest of the season."
