Millican Suffers First Round Loss to Baca at NHRA CSK Nationals

Phoenix, Ariz. - March 7, 2004 - Clay Millican of Team 104+ Performance Additives/Lehman Racing, the number seven Top Fuel qualifier, lost in the first round of eliminations to David Baca at the NHRA CSK Nationals at Firebird International Raceway.

"It wasn't the type of weekend we were looking for," said Millican. "We were trying to run a time in the mid- 4.5's, and the car was running well until about the 200- foot mark, but then we lost traction."

Millican got out ahead of Baca from the starting line with a reaction time of 0.057 to Baca's 0.137, but lost traction and had to settle for an elapsed time of 6.553, while Baca went 4.556.

Millican said the team will now shift its focus to the IHRA, where they will try to win their fourth consecutive Top Fuel championship with the Werner Enterprises team. Additionally, they will attempt to become the winningest team in any professional class in IHRA history. The record is 32 wins by Rickie Smith in Pro Stock and Pro Mod. Millican has 30 career IHRA victories in Top Fuel, and is only two wins away from tying the record.

The team's next race is the IHRA Texas Nationals in San Antonio, Texas, on March 26-28, and their next NHRA event is the O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas, on April 15-18, where they will attempt to get their first-ever NHRA national event victory.
