NHRA PACIFIC DIVISION'S BEST INVADE TOP GUN RACEWAY
FALLON, Nev. -- Racing kicked off today for the NHRA Summit Racing Series Pacific Division Finals at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nev. More than 600 of the best racers from 14 tracks covering Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Nevada will do battle for a Team Championship, individual honors and the chance to compete for the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship in November at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.
Last year's team champions and host track, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway are looking to defend their title as teams from the other NHRA Member Tracks hope to dethrone them.
Today's action is filled with time trials for all five classes including a high school class which competes for a trophy and savings bonds. Other classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Motorcycle/Snowmobile who are racing for a share of the more than $30,000 purse. Saturday's activities get started at 8 a.m. and are highlighted by The Race of Champions set to begin at 1 p.m. The Race of Champions winners move on to the national championship where they will face off against the Summit Division Champions from the other six NHRA divisions.
