WOOTTON'S DEBUT STARTS WITH OUTSTANDING RESULTS
BAYTOWN, TEXAS - Kristen Wootton and the METTLE-ARMOR RACING OIL A/Fuel Dragster team made their NHRA debut today at the 23rd running of the O'Reilly NHRA Springnationals contested at Houston Raceway Park located in Baytown, Texas. A very conservative 5.51 second 253 mile per hour run down the HRP quarter-mile has placed the 32-year old rookie dragster driver in the 10th qualified position. And results from today's debut has crew chief Joe Monden smiling from ear to ear.
"I am very pleased with today's effort as both Kristen and this new METTLE-ARMOR 70 wt Racing Oil impressed me," noted the talented chassis builder and team crew chief from Gainesville, Texas. "On our first pass, we had the wick turned up a bit and over-powered the track. The car instantly went into tire smoke and it was the first time Kristen ever experienced tire spin. She lifted after about 330 foot and got the car stopped safely. We were expecting some broken parts after this learning session, but when we dropped the pan, everything looked amazing. No smoked bearings, no broken rods, pistons look great."
After the teams tire-smoking initial pass, Monden and the Wootton racing crew put a new rack of pistons, rods and bearings to make sure they made the second qualifying session later in the afternoon. This time, Monden backed down the tune-up quite a bit and Wootton drove the A/Fuel Dragster straight down the quarter-mile, recording a conservative 5.513 second elapsed time. Although Wootton lifted her foot off the throttle twice during the run, it was a tremendous improvement and provides the team with a solid base-line for tomorrow's final qualifying session and first round of eliminations.
To say the team is impressed with their debut with today would be an understatement. "Kristen's learning, we hurt no parts and the METTLE-ARMOR 70 wt Racing Oil works better than any oil I've ever seen. The proof is in the pudding and I invite anybody who has questions about this product to stop by our pit over the next few days to see it for themselves. Hopefully, we'll be racing on Sunday."
