Carlson, Crawford, Mohler Pumped Up for 2005 Season
Team Mopar's NHRA Summit Racing Sport Compact Series trio is looking to build on its successful 2004 campaign with another blistering assault on the Sport Compact scene in 2005. Shaun Carlson, Scott Mohler and Mike Crawford will again hit the quarter-miles for Mopar this season, bringing their flamboyant personalities and door-slamming excitement to speed-addicted fans across the nation.
Carlson will return to the cockpit for NuFormz Racing in the Pro FWD division. Turning the wrenches on the NuFormz ride will be veteran tuner Rob Miller. The duo bring a level of competition and confidence that only experience can produce, as they look to pick up where they left off last season. Carlson made one final round appearance in 2004, coupled with one Top Qualifier effort, two semifinal round appearances and a fourth-place finish in the Pro FWD division championship.
Scott Mohler and Mohler Motorsports will throw their hats into the owner's ring this season, as the team will embark on its first year of competition. Mohler, who split from former owner Darrell Cox at the end of 2004, has joined forces with Dave and Deborah Mohler to tackle the strip this season. Staying true to his roots, Mohler will once again campaign in the All Motor division. The East Coast resident scored three wins in 2004, capping his stellar season with five final round appearances and a second-place finish in the 2004 All Motor division championship.
Mike Crawford and Darrell Cox Racing are also set to return to the starting line in 2005, as they will look to win the Hot Rod Division title. Crawford made three final round appearances and four semifinal round appearances, earned one Top Qualifier award, and finished fourth in the Hot Rod Division point chase in 2004. The duo have proven to be one of the most solid teams on the sport compact scene.
The NHRA Summit Racing Sport Compact Drag Racing Series kicks off its schedule April 2-3 with the Second Annual Southeast NHRA Sport Compact Nationals at Moroso Motorsports Park in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Lasoski Looking to Capture Victory at Cactus Classic
Danny Lasoski, currently fifth in the WoO Sprint points race, looks to move up the standings with a win in this weekend's Cactus Classic at Manzanita Speedway in Arizona.
Team Mopar and Tony Stewart Motorsports driver Danny "The Dude" Lasoski and the No. 20 team will be gunning for victory when World of Outlaws Sprint Series racing resumes this Friday and Saturday with the Cactus Classic at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. The two-night event will give a $12,000 purse to the winner of the Saturday night feature race and will be broadcast on The Outdoor Channel at 8 p.m. EST, on March 23.
Lasoski, currently fifth in the WoO Sprint point standings, has grabbed one top-five and two top-ten finishes in the early stages of the season. Part of the "Mean 15" group of drivers who have committed to running the bulk of the WoO Sprint schedule, Lasoski racked up two 11th-place finishes at Tulare, Calif., and Bakersfield, Calif., last weekend.
