Team Jeg's looks to Memphis.

The first round of the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway Park was unable to be completed due to a number of rain showers on Sunday. The NHRA action resumed promptly at 10:30 AM Monday morning.

Jeg Coughlin, Jr was defeated by Allen Johnson in the opening round in a door-handle-to-door-handle battle. The margin of victory at the stripe was .0049 seconds.

The rare first round loss by Jeg dropped him to No. 3 in the NHRA POWERade Championship. He has 1132 points with five races remaining to regain the top spot in NHRA's most competitive professional class.

"We will head to Memphis and work on finishing this three race series (Reading, Memphis & Chicago) on a high note. Although we lost the lead in the points, the important thing is to be the one in the lead at the end of the last race in Pomona," explained Jeg.

Defending event winner Troy Coughlin made some noise this weekend. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier disposed of Larry Nance before loosing to Kurt Johnson in the second round.

"We gained some additional points and are closer to breaking back into the top ten. The guys did a good job this weekend and we are looking forward to continuing where we left off when we get to Memphis later this week," commented Troy.
