In the third qualifying session the conditions set the stage for record breaking runs. Mike Coughlin and his Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10's was the first of the Team Jeg's machine to take on the track.

Mike was in the right lane. He launched from the starting line like a
rocket. He ran 7.452 at 179.95 mph. The run was good enough to break the
NHRA national record. Mike ended up in the No. 4 position.

"What a run. The truck felt great all the way down the track. It just kept pulling all the way down the track," said Mike. "The team did a great job and the numbers show it!"

John Coughlin was further back in the running order for the third session. After watching Mike's run John was extremely excited to make his run. John was also in the right lane, which gave the team the opportunity to make some adjustment to John's truck from what they learned from Mike's run.

He left the starting line beams with authority. The Jeg's machine followed the middle of the groove all the way to the stripe. John also broke the standing NHRA national record. He ran a 7.450 at 179.47 mph and took over the No. 3 spot.

"All of the hard work that the team did last night paid off," said John. "It is such a great feeling to make a great run like that!"

Mike did not improve during the final session. He ran a 7.453 at 180.00 mph
and stayed in the No. 4 position. Mike was the second quickest of the
session. He will face off against Scott Perin in the opening round.

"We have a pretty consistent machine this weekend," said Mike. "I am looking forward to big things tomorrow!"

John also did not improve. However, he was on a record breaking run until he had trouble seeing the track. He ran a 6.198 when he passed the 1000-foot clock, which was the quickest of the session. John stayed in the No. 3 spot and will go head-to-head with Steve Johns for the second straight week.

"We were on a record breaking pass until I was forced to lift," stated John. "I think that there are some big things in store for Team Jeg's tomorrow!"
