John Force, Castrol GTX® Ford Mustang Pro Funny Car: Qualified: 6th at 5.019, 303.37 mph Racing Result: Beat Scott Weiss, Bob Gilbertson; lost to Tommy Johnson Jr. Noteworthy: Although he lost in the semifinals, Force had the quickest time in each of the first two rounds including the quickest of the event -- 4.927 seconds. John said: "We had a problem in the semifinals. For awhile it looked like we might have an all-Castrol final, but at least Tony put some distance between himself and (Whit) Bazemore and we can go to Texas and let it all hang out. "

Tony Pedregon, Castrol SYNTEC™ Ford Mustang Pro Funny Car: Qualified: 1st at 4.939, 308.43 mph Racing Result: Beat Cory Lee, Ron Capps, Al Hofmann; lost to Tommy Johnson Jr. Noteworthy: Tony qualified No. 1 for the fourth time this season and reached his seventh final. His 308.43 mph effort in qualifying was top speed of the meet. Tony said: "Our car blew the tires off," Pedregon said. "I rolled back in it to get it to recover and he (Johnson Jr.) put about two cars on me. I chased him down for maybe a second or two, but you've gotta think quick in this business. My dad used to tell me, ‘(in a Funny Car) if you keep your foot in it, you wear it. It's not like a dragster.'"
