Memphis, Tenn. (Pre-race) - The DBP Enterprises Pro Stock Truck racing team is ready for the 13th Annual AutoZone Nationals presented by Pennzoil's to get under way this weekend in Memphis, Tenn. Team drivers, Greg Stanfield and Bart Price, hope to break out of the driving slump that they have been in for the last four races, and take the first round monkey off their back.

Qualifying has not been a problem for the DBP Enterprises team. Both trucks consistently qualify at every race. Their obstacle has been the first round. Neither truck has gotten past the first round since back in Chicago in June of this year. It is the driving slump which has prevented Stanfield or Price from obtaining a win this year.

"We are sick and tired of seeing that yellow truck (referring to Bob Panella's yellow S-10) winning all the time," said team driver Greg Stanfield. "If I do my job, I know we can beat him. My driving is not up to par right now. I am personally in a slump, but I am not giving up.

"In Memphis we are going to do the best that we can do. What we need to do is get past the first round. That has been a stumbling block for us. We have been qualifying both trucks well, but we cannot seem to get past the first round. That is our goal for Memphis; to get both trucks to Round 2."

Driver and team owner Bart Price talked about the performance of this two-truck team.

"Right now I feel like we have a good team," said Price. "We just need to sharpen our driving skills. We are striving to make good runs every time. I am comfortable with our level of performance. We are getting the trucks where we want them, and have a motor program second to none. Right now, I feel like either one of us can be the Number 1 qualifier, if we drive well. We just need to make some good, smooth runs and we will get a Number 1 qualifying position.

"We are here to race, and both of us have been in a bit of a slump lately. There are some very good drivers in this class, some guys that are always hard to get past. It seems like we always meet them in the first round, but that is part of racing. We need to bring our racing up to where it should be, and get out of this slump. I am pleased that we are going in the right direction, and feel that is just a matter of time before we start winning again."

Stanfield reiterated Price's sentiments when he summed up the DBP Enterprises teams plan for Memphis.

Stanfield said," I said before that, our goal for Memphis is to get both trucks to Round 2. Once we get past Round 1, and break the slump that we are in, everybody had better watch out. Then we will start going rounds, and hopefully start winning races. Memphis looks like as good a place as any to start winning. There's no time like the present."

Pro Stock Truck qualifying at the 13th Annual AutoZone Nationals in Memphis, Tenn. begins on Friday Oct. 6, and continues on Saturday Oct. 7. Eliminations take place on Sunday Oct. 8 at 11:00 AM EST.
