Menard Hopes to Continue Momentum at Kansas Speedway
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 24, 2008) -- Paul Menard and the No. 15 Dale Earnhardt Inc./Menards team head to Kansas Speedway on the heels of consecutive top-25 finishes in the past two weeks of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition.
"We've definitely been building some momentum these past few weeks," Menard said. "And Kansas is a track I've always really enjoyed racing at, so it's a great place to go to continue our string of top-25 finishes."
After three weeks of short track style racing, Menard happily returns to an intermediate sized racetrack for this weekend's Camping World RV 400.
"It's safe to say we've had a lot of potential on this sort of track so it feels good to get back to a big track," Menard said. "I really thought we had a shot at top-10 finishes at Chicago and Michigan and it just didn't pan out for us. My goal for Sunday's race is to come away with another solid finish, which I hope will be our first top-10 of the season."
Crew Chief Doug Randolph is in agreement that the potential for success exists at Kansas Speedway.
"This should be another solid weekend for Menards Racing," Randolph said. "This is Paul's favorite type of track, which gives us a lot of potential in qualifying and on race day. We've come a long way with our intermediate track program and Paul and I seem to really agree on how to approach the weekend with regard to our qualifying package and race strategy."
Menard's first opportunity to showcase his intermediate track skills will come Friday afternoon during qualifying for Sunday's race. Qualifying is scheduled to air live on ESPN-2 beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern.
