Memphis, Tenn. (Oct. 7) - Brian "Lump" Self, driver of the Roof-Tec Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck will enter eliminations at the 13th Annual AutoZone Nationals in Memphis, Tenn. in the 16th position on the eliminations ladder.

In the third round of qualifying Self drove his S-10 to a 7.494 / 178.45 mph which would hold for the 16th position. In the quickest and fastest Pro Stock Truck field in history, just placing his truck in the 16th spot was no small feat.

"We have been fighting this truck all weekend," said Self. "The truck has been real loose. We can't get it to stabilize. If we could that, I know we could be a lot quicker. We haven't got a handle on the tune-up for this kind of weather. We have run quick in cold weather before, but the conditions are not exactly the same.

"In the morning it is going to be hard to get down the race track. It is supposed to be colder in the morning, so it will be hard for me to guess now about tomorrow's conditions. In the morning we will look at the racetrack and see what we have.

For the second time in as many races, Self will meet Greg Stanfield in Round 1 of Sunday's eliminations.

"Racing Greg is always fun. Neither one of us likes to stage first. We have had our burn down wars in the past. I don't plan on burning him down. But you can be sure, that as cold as it is we will be sitting there for awhile.

"Seriously, tomorrow we will have to race for the track, not for who is in the lane next to us. Anyone of these 16 qualified guys can beat us tomorrow. It will be up to us race smart and beat them and not beat ourselves out there."

Eliminations at the 13th Annual AutoZone Nationals begin promptly at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday Oct. 8.
