Jeg stays No. 1

Jeg Coughlin started the second and final day of qualifying as the man to beat. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier posted a run of 6.748 at 202.94 mph.

The 33-year old second generation driver continued to show strength on the second day of qualifying. Jeg laid down a 6.775 at 202.33 mph and made the third quickest run of the session. The run wasn't an improvement over his previous best and he remained in the No. 1 spot.

The final qualifying session was held in the heat of the day. The team decided to take the time and try something different with the set up. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier launched from the line and went into tire shake and the reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion was forced to abort the run.

"We are excited to have our Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier in the No. 1 qualifying spot," explained Jeg. "This is the first time we have qualified No. 1 this season and really shows that our program has added strength at this late point in the season. We need to stay focused and avoid making errors tomorrow (Sunday). I think we are going to make some noise this weekend in the Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier and that's a good feeling to have going into race day."

Jeg Coughlin will take on Scott Geoffrion in the opening round. Lane choice will go to Jeg and his Chevy Cavalier.
