White shooting for win at hometown track.

JOLIET, Ill. - As the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series rolls into the 'Windy City,' NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Marc White will be looking to pick up a win at his hometown track during this weekend's Division 3 event at Route 66 Raceway just outside of Chicago. With cool weather conditions forecasted, White and the Bars Leaks/Etterman Racing team are excited about getting a chance to run some strong numbers this weekend.

White, who lives just down the road in Glendale Heights, Ill., feels that the good air/good track races like this weekend plays more into the Etterman Racing Team's hand.

"We like running the good tracks in good air," said White. "If the weather goes like it is forecasted, that's what we will have this weekend in Joliet. The track is always awesome there, so with the good air to make horsepower, it's going to be a fast race. We've been running consistent 5.60's with this Bars Leaks hot rod, but so has Chucky [Cheeseman], so it's going to take that or better. There's quite a few teams out there that will be there that are capable of stepping up."

After starting their quest towards regaining the Division 3 Championship on a dismal note in Memphis, the team is buoyed by their strong performance in Houston two weeks ago.

"We just had a bad race in Memphis," stated White. "We put that behind us and did well again in Houston. Houston was one of the toughest races we've raced at in a while; seven of the top ten cars in the country were there. This weekend should produce the same."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
