GAINESVILLE, Fla. - After finishing seventh nationally in Top Alcohol Funny Car for the second consecutive year, Etterman Racing and team driver Marc White are looking to start what they hope will amount to a national title run with new sponsor Bars Leaks during this weekend's Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. The team feels that a strong start coupled with the support of Bars Leaks can make them a contender for the national title.

"We just want to go out and have a good weekend to start the year," said White, from Glendale Heights, Ill. "We as a team feel like if we can go out and do well right off the bat, we'll be in a lot better position to make a good run in points. Our focus isn't on points this weekend, we are just shooting to go out there and make good, strong runs, and if we can do that, everything else should take care of itself. We want to put this Bars Leaks car in the winner's circle come Sunday."

Team owners George and Jane Etterman from Newaygo, Mich., along with the whole team hope that this weekend's race will provide the traditional good racing conditions this race has been well known for. Given the forecasted conditions, the team feels it will take 5.60's to be a contender.

"You're going to have to run 5.60's or better just to be a player this weekend," stated White. "I feel we have the team and the car to do it. George and Jane have given me the chance to drive their hot rod again, it's about as good as they come. We have the same team we've had for a while, so hopefully we can pick right up where we left off last year in Gainesville this weekend."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars, with one final session Saturday morning. First round of eliminations will be ran Saturday afternoon, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
