White to go into 'test mode' in Dallas.

ENNIS, Texas - With the end of the 2002 season bearing down, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Marc White and the Etterman Racing team plan to go into a 'test mode' during their last two events, including this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec at the Texas Motorplex just south of Dallas. White hopes to gather new information for next season.

White, from Glendale Heights, Ill., has had a very up and down year. White and his team hope to find a certain level of consistency in addition to finding new information.

"We've had races where we've ran very well, and races not so well," said White. "At this point, we're looking at it like we have at least eight more test laps this season. We'll be able to make at least four runs in Dallas and four in Pomona. Obviously, we will try to make it more than that, but right now, our focus is gearing up for next season, not just going rounds."

White feels that given the Motorplex's reputation for record breaking performances, they should be able to run strong this weekend.

"The Motorplex is one of the best tracks in the country," commented White. "That is why we come here every year. We're really going to get after it; I'm pretty sure the track will be able to handle it."

Qualifying will begin on Friday for the alcohol cars with two sessions. One final session Saturday morning will conclude qualifying with round one of eliminations later in the afternoon. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
