White looking for Columbus repeat

KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio - NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Marc White will be looking to pull off two two-in-a-row's in the Bar's Leaks/Etterman Racing Firebird during this weekend's Pontiac Excitement Nationals presented by Summit Racing at National Trail Raceway just outside of Columbus, Ohio. White will be looking to win his second race in a row and win for the event for the second straight year.

Statistically, the 'dog days of summer' have been the best months for the Etterman Racing team. The team won the 2001 Sears Craftsman Nationals in St. Louis in June, last year's Pontiac Excitement Nationals in June, last month's O'Reilly Summer Nationals (late May) along with a handful of Division 3 events during the summer months. White and the team hope to keep the trend going this weekend.

"Topeka was one of the most consistent races for us," said White, of Glendale Heights, Ill. "That's really what we want to repeat this weekend, to make a bunch of strong runs. We've been making steady progress all year, and we want to continue on that track. We've always done well in the summer months, and we hope to continue that this year."

Despite having a career weekend at his last event in Topeka, White and the team have their sights on improvement this weekend.

"We feel good about the way we ran in Topeka," commented White. "But we do see room for improvement. I'm not necessarily saying I'm smart enough to figure out how, but we see the room is there. We'll try to creep up on it and put the Bar's Leaks car in the winner's circle again this weekend."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with and concludes Saturday afternoon. Round one of eliminations will be ran Saturday evening and final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
