GLENDORA, Calif. (May 22, 2003) -- Checker Schuck's Kragen (CSK Auto: NYSE-CAO) has renewed its sponsorship as the "Official Auto Parts Store" for NHRA, it was announced today.

The official status provides CSK Auto the opportunity to utilize the NHRA logo in advertising and promotional campaigns. Through the official program, CSK Auto also receives signage at all national events, and is featured in many NHRA-driven marketing initiatives.

"We have been extremely satisfied with our corporate involvement with the NHRA, the Worsham family and Firebird Raceway in our hometown of Phoenix," said Martin Fraser, CSK president and chief operating officer. "The NHRA not only promotes the responsible and safe use of performance parts at the drag strip, it also provides the perfect setting for our company to reach its primary demographic and continue to grow as one of the leading aftermarket retailers in the country."

In addition to its involvement with the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body, CSK Auto is the primary sponsor of both the Checker Schuck's Kragen Pontiac Firebird Funny Cars owned by the Worsham Racing Team and also is the title sponsor of the Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals at Firebird International Raceway outside of Phoenix.

"Checker Schuck's Kragen has supported NHRA championship drag racing for a number of years and we are happy to see them return as the official auto parts store," said Bob Wagner, NHRA vice president of sales. "CSK Auto has been instrumental in maximizing the NHRA's exposure through innovative promotions and advertising campaigns across the country, as well as their sponsorship of a two-car Funny Car team. The NHRA is eager to build on its successful business association with CSK Auto as the popularity of drag racing continues to reach unprecedented levels."

In addition to the extension as NHRA's "Official Auto Parts Store", CSK Auto also has signed a multi-year agreement extending its sponsorship of the Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals at Firebird International Raceway outside of Phoenix. The event has been a mainstay on the NHRA circuit and will celebrate its 20th annual event in 2004.

It presents 23 national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has more than 80,000 members nationwide and 140 member tracks.
