Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin are eager to return to Gateway International Raceway for the 6th Annual Sears Craftsman Nationals in Madison, Illinois this upcoming weekend. The Delaware, Ohio based team is looking forward to making the trip west in pursuit of the team's second Pro Stock victory of the season.
"We have had the chance to do some testing over the past couple of weeks," explained Jeg. "The testing has gone well, and we feel that we have picked up in a few areas. Hopefully the knowledge that we gained will translate into increased performance at the track in St. Louis. Competition in Pro Stock is so exceptionally strong that even the most minute gains can yield dramatically positive results."
Troy Coughlin hopes to build off of his strong showing in Columbus when he rolls his yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavalier into battle next weekend. Troy withdrew from this race in 2000 after qualifying in the quick sixteen to be at home with his wife Julie for the birth of their daughter Paige.
"I'm excited about returning to St. Louis," commented Troy. "The track at Gateway can tend to be a little tricky to navigate. The summer heat and humidity tends to play havoc on the track. Performing well in tough conditions has traditionally been a strength of Team Jeg's. Hopefully we can use some of our past experiences to our advantage this weekend."
Jeg and Troy enter the Sears Craftsman Nationals sixth and thirteenth in the points respectively. Both drivers have the chance to make significant gains in the tightly packed Pro Stock point standings if they have good outings this weekend.
