MADISON, ILL (June 28th) - Defending POWERade NHRA Champion Larry Dixon secured the No.3 spot headed into tomorrow's final elimination round of the Seventh Annual Sears Craftsman Nationals at Gateway International Raceway. Dixon drove the Miller Lite dragster to a 4.657-second run at a speed of 314.31 mph during the fourth and final qualifying session Saturday.

During the first pass of the day, the Don Prudhomme owned dragster made a run of 4.694 ET (316.08 mph), Dixon improving on the second and final qualifying pass with a time of 4.657 ET at 314.31 miles per hour.

Dixon will pair against No.14 qualifier Tony Schumacher tomorrow in the first round of Sunday eliminations. The two last met in Columbus Ohio at the Pontiac Nationals during the semifinals; Dixon won the event and his third consecutive Pontiac Nationals title.

According to Assistant Crew Chief Donny Bender, "we're looking forward to racing Schumacher in the first round. In Chicago they said they were in their element. Now we're in our element; let's see how the chips fall."

Sunday's pre-race ceremonies begin at 3:30 PM CT and eliminations at 4:30 PM CT. ESPN2 will air final round coverage of the Seventh Annual Craftsman Nationals tomorrow from 5-7:00PM ET, re-airing on Monday, June 30th from 2:30-4:00AM (ET) and also from 2-4:00 PM.
