Jeg Qualifies In The Top-Half

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. started the final day of qualifying sitting in the No. 6 position. The team focused on improving their qualifying position and getting a better handle on the set up for race day.

In the third qualifying session the conditions were very close to what the competitors are expected to see tomorrow on race day. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier launched from the starting line and made a quick move to the right. The car returned back to the groove to complete the run. Coughlin posted a run of 6.848 at 203.40 mph and stayed in the No. 6 position.

"We went too far and we were just too aggressive for the track," explained Coughlin. "The balance of the car was upset and it showed in the first-half of the track."

In the final qualifying session Coughlin launched from the starting line and made a move toward the center line. He stayed with it and returned the yellow and black Jeg's machine to the groove to complete the run. The run was not an improvement and he posted a run of 6.813 at 204.11 mph. He stayed in the No. 6 position.

"We are just making errors," commented Coughlin. "Tomorrow will bring new opportunities and it will be our job as a team to make correct decisions and capitalize on what we can control. We know how to win and we just need to do it."

The youngest of the four Coughlin brother's will go head-to-head against Jim Yates in the opening round. Both drivers have won two Pro Stock championships. The Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier will have lane choice when the two go to battle.
