MADISON, Ill. -- Today at the 7th annual Sears Craftsman Nationals Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am has qualified his Pro Stock ride Number 2. It was in the second session of qualifying where Anderson drove his Grand Am to a 6.815 / 202.85 mph to take the second position.

"I think we are ready for Sunday," said Anderson. "We spent today getting ready for eliminations. Well as best as we can get ready. For the Pro Stock cars, the track conditions we see in eliminations are nothing like we have in qualifying.

"On race day, we run behind the fuel cars. They put a lot of clutch dust down on the racetrack. That adds another dimension to the track that we do not see in qualifying. It makes it more difficult to hook the car up down track. It is something we do not to get practice for, but it is the same battle we fight every race, and my team works well in those conditions.

Tomorrow when eliminations get underway Anderson's first round opponent will be Darrell Alderman.

"Tomorrow I have Alderman in the first round. Any time you line up against Darrell, you need to be on your game.

"We should have about the same conditions we had tonight. Which should give the St. Louis drag race fans a great race to watch."

Eliminations at the 7th annual Sears Craftsman Nationals will take place on Sunday June 29 at 4:00 PM CST
