Troy Coughlin falls short.

Troy Coughlin and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier started the second and final day of qualifying sitting in the No. 14 position.

In the third session the timing system had an error caused in part by the excessive winds. NHRA officials were confident the error was caused by something blowing around down track in the lights at the finish line. NHRA did not allow Troy to rerun and he slipped to the No. 16 spot.

"We reviewed the video and data from the run and it was the best looking run we have made all weekend," said Troy. "It would have been nice to see the time slip."

The final qualifying session put Troy on the bubble. By the time he pulled the JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier into the water box he was south of the No. 16 qualifying position. Troy ran a 6.955 at 198.00 mph. He fell just short of qualifying.

"We had the opportunity to get the job done and we just fell short," said Troy. "Our guys will be bust tomorrow working on the car in the pit area to prepare for our next race in Houston. We will go through every inch of our car before it gets put into the trailer. We will regroup and be ready in Houston."
